SKE courses are intended to boost candidates' subject knowledge either prior to ITT or to assist in-service teachers teach a new subject. They are particularly useful for those whose academic background omits aspects of their chosen SKE specialist subject at a level necessary for teaching it in secondary schools. The courses will appeal to candidates who are entering training and have found themselves outside of the DfE funding eligibility criteria, for in-service teachers wanting to teach a new subject and for those returning to teaching and in need of a booster.
